What are haemorrhoids?

Haemorrhoids , anal fistulas and anal fissures are common conditions we offer treatment for. Haemorrhoids are a normal part of the anus. They are small sacs of blood vessels under the lining of the bowel. They can cause problems if they get bigger and start to bleeding or prolapse out of the anus.

How are haemorrhoids treated?

Symptomatic haemorrhoids can be treated with simple changes to diet, laxatives and avoiding straining on the loo. If these measures don’t work than the haemorrhoids can be treated with tight elastic bands, stitches guided by doppler ultrasound (THD) or by removing then surgically (haemorrhoidectomy).
